IN a sudden twist of events, a Binga woman got the beating of her life after she had quizzed her cousin about her pregnancy leading her husband to hit her with a stick.

It is alleged that Mugwagwa Chidavaenzi (25) was at home with his wife and a cousin who was pregnant.

It is the state case as presented by prosecutor Mr David Shiku that on 15 September at around 8pm Chidavaenzi had a misunderstanding soon after his wife had asked her cousin about the father of her unborn baby. Chidavaenzi started accusing his wife of gossiping around and always wanted to poke into other people's business.

This however, did not go down well with the wife who still insisted to know the person who had planted the seed on her cousin.

Chidavaenzi not to be outdone allegedly took a stick and thrashed his wife all over the body leading to her sustaining injuries.

She then rushed to report the matter to the police leading to the wife-beater's arrest, Chidavaenzi appeared in court before magistrate Mr. Stephen Ndlovu facing charges of contravening section 4(b) as read with section 3(b) of the Domestic Violence Act chapter 5.1. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three months in prison wholly suspended on condition that he commits 105 hours of community service at Binga District Hospital.
