MULTICHOICE will today launch two new SuperSport channels, SuperSport 11 (DStv channel 211) and SuperSport 12 (DStv channel 212) on its Compact bouquet which will be dedicated to showcasing the EPL and La Liga respectively.
This means that football fans will now be able to enjoy one of the biggest games of the season including this Saturday's match between long-time rivals Arsenal and Manchester United on SS11.
They will also be able to watch Spanish rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid Clash in the El Clasico at Camp Nou on April 3. This comes as sweet news for English Premier League (EPL) fans who were dealt a blow last year after the pay-per-view television broadcaster announced that the topflight matches would only be available to premium subscribers.
They had moved EPL matches from SuperSport 3, DStv channel 223, to SuperSport 5, DStv channel 225, which is only available to premium subscribers. MultiChoice Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer Lovemore Mangwende said their decision was made because Zimbabweans were facing economic hardships.
"One of MultiChoice's key priorities is to put our subscribers' needs at the heart of everything we do and since these have been tough economic times for everyone, we realised that our subscribers could use some good news," said Mangwende.
"We're excited that we can now deliver the best football action in the world to our Compact subscribers while ensuring that this development doesn't negatively impact them financially."
He said subscribers would be able to watch the Euro 2016 football tournament which will kick off on June 10 until July 10 on the new SuperSport channels. Mangwende said the price for DStv Compact will remain at $32 per month.
