A Lupane man beat up his wife at a police station after she raised objections against him marring a second wife.
Thembelani Nkiwane, 42, told his 34-year-old wife Sinothile Bhebhe that he plans to take one of their cows to pay lobola for a second wife.
After that, the two exchanged harsh words leading to Nkiwane beating up Bhebhe with a wooden stool and a whip.
Bhebhe fled to St Luke's police station and Nkiwane followed her.
When Nkiwane caught up with Bhebhe at the police station, he found her reporting the matter.
Without remorse he slapped her and grabbed her by the throat.
He was only restrained by one Sergeant Inspector Sibanda and a Sergeant Muchapaziva.
He was arrested.
In court, Nkiwane said "Your worship, she disrespects me. She does not want me to marry a second wife. She refused that I should take a cow from our kraal for bride price.
"I am the head of the family and I am the owner of the cattle, as such she should respect me ".
He was remanded in custody to March 8.
