A 21-YEAR-OLD woman from Bulawayo's Pelandaba suburb has been arrested for allegedly stealing her dead friend's clothes. Caster White allegedly stole property and clothing which includes several pairs of jean trousers, shoes, jackets, cosmetics and hair accessories worth $216 belonging to her deceased friend whose name was not disclosed in court.
The court heard White allegedly went to her late friend's house in Gwanda where she stole the clothes and accessories. White appeared before Western Commonage Magistrate Tancy Dube facing a theft charge. Dube did not ask her to plead and remanded her in custody to Monday.
Prosecuting, Kenneth Shava told the court that on May 10 at around 4PM, White entered her late friend's room after she had visited the sister to the deceased.
"The accused entered the complainant's room and forced open a wardrobe. She stole property and went away unnoticed. The complainant and the deceased's friends found the stolen property in the accused's room on May 14," said Shava.
"Property stolen includes three pairs of jean trousers, Bonita Yaki braids, dress tops, a black jacket, leggings, a night dress, a pair of high heels, one sleeveless top and a jump suit all worth $216." The prosecutor said property worth $195 was recovered.
