Villagers barred from witnessing school handover

Lupane villagers were on Saturday barred from witnessing the official handing over of the $1.5 million China-Africa Friendly Primary School to government.
Police manning the entrance told villagers that the function was strictly for invited guests.
Police said they where under direct orders from the Chinese not to let in anyone without accreditation.
They had to follow proceedings from about 100 metres.
The function was attended by ministers, Chinese embassy staff, Zanu PF legislators, council officials and scores of teachers.
Primary and Secondary Education minister Lazarus Dokora, Matabeleland North Metropolitan minister Cain Mathema, Minister of State in Vice President Emerson Mnangagwa's office Clifford Sibanda, China Ambassador to Zimbabwe Huang Ping and provincial education director for Matabeleland North Boithatelo Mnguni where part of the VIP.
At the entrance, some villagers where heard vowing not to transfer their children to the new school.
They said they get humiliated.
The invited guests where treated cultural dances, food and beer.
