A Bulawayo businessman, Charles Katso, had died. He was 80. Katso who owned shops in Luveve suburb, died on Wednesday after succumbing to cardiac arrest following years of battling with diabetes.

His son Lameck told Chronicle yesterday:"He was a principled, hard working businessman who always gave back to the community. He always assisted old people's homes and paid fees for disadvantaged children."

He said his father's death was a great loss to the family as Katso was very influential in the family through encouraging his children and other relatives to aim higher. "Before he started businesses, he was a teacher who taught several people who're now in positions of influence. So many people passed through his hands including some politicians. He used to be a woodwork teacher before crossing over to start his businesses," he said.

Katso who was well known in Luveve will be buried tomorrow at Old Luveve Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Alice, five children and 12 grand children.
