Calm returns in Beitbridge

The road leading to the Beitbridge border post is said to have now been opened after protests, South African media reported.

"Early this morning, protesters tried to block the road at the border but were dispersed by the police.

"Public order policing are keeping an eye on the situation,"  Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto  is quoted saying.

However Beitbridge residents say most shops in the border town closed fearing looting.

Residents are protesting Zimra's ban on imports from South Africa.
