A HARARE man who struck a neighbour with an axe after being found in bed with a married woman was dragged to the courts Tuesday.
Vengai Mpofu, 42, of Mt Hampden appeared before magistrate Tendai Mahwe charged with attempted murder.
He was remanded in custody to 19 July for trial.
Court heard that Mpofu was, over this past weekend, confronted with mob justice for being found in bed with his married lover.
According to prosecutors, Mpofu was having an illicit affair with an unidentified woman and the matter became a common story in his neighbourhood.
On the day in question, neighbours spotted the lovebirds going to the woman's house after her husband had left for work.
The neighbours then tipped the husband who returned immediately home.
Court heard the woman's husband then stormed the bedroom and found Mpofu making love to his wife.
Prosecutors claim that Mpofu then took a small axe which was in the room and struck one of the neighbours present before trying to run away.
He was however, overpowered by the angry mob and later handed to the police.
