Obert Mpofu attacks Umguza council officials

Umguza member of the house of assembly, Dr Obert Mpofu has launched a stinging attack at some Zanu PF councilors and officials accusing them of working against the party, an issue he says is now affecting development in the constituency.

Officiating at the commissioning of road maintenance equipment in Umguza district, Dr Mpofu said all councilors who are not working harmoniously with him are enemies of the party and have no place in the district.

Dr Mpofu who was in a no nonsense mood singled out the council chairperson, Mrs Mary Shelton as a renegade official who was now working against the party.

He further accused some people who are running hunting conservancies of not supporting surrounding communities saying there is a need to relook at some of these issues with a view to enforcing community share ownership in Safari hunting areas.

Umguza Rural District Council is yet to clarify the Ilitshe road scandal where thousands of dollars were released for a road project that was never done.

A company called Notify allegedly owned by some senior council and political leaders was awarded the contract for the project under some unclear circumstances.
