A NIGERIAN national has been fined US$100 and the State has called for his immediate deportation after he forged dates of extension to his permit.
Stephen Nnadozie Osuji, 43, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe.
The State alleges that on January 6, 2012 Osuji was given a spouse time permit expiring on December 30, 2012 at Harare Immigration Headquarters offices and it was endorsed in his Nigerian passport.
It is alleged that on an unknown date he then changed a 2 to a 7 on the expiry date of the permit to read December 2017 a period which is five continuous years instead of annual extensions.
Osuji then acquired a new ECOWAS Federal Republic of Nigeria passport on April 23, 2013 and he prejudiced the State of about US$1 500 in potential revenue, it is alleged.
He is said to have remained in Zimbabwe from December 30, 2012 to June 21, 2016 without a permit issued in terms of the Act.
Prosecutor Sebastian Mutiziwa appeared for the State.
