Chronicle workers in a state of panic

Chronicle workers are in a state of panic as the state media house is set to retrench more than 20.

The retrenchments take effect on September 1, tomorrow.

It is understood that a notice was circulated on Monday to all departments.

A list of the affected across all departments is set to be availed anytime today.

"The situation is tense. No one knows who is being sacked.

"Heads of departments are required to submit a list today,"said one insider.

"We are now not too sure whether its voluntary retrenchment or forced one" added another.

"This state of uncertainty has been with us since later 2015.

"A list was prepared and sent to HQ (Harare) but some people where removed from it as they are connected with influential people".
