Zvorwadza defies demo ban

National Vendors' Union of Zimbabwe leader Standrick Zvorwadza yesterday defied a police ban on all demonstrations in Harare's central business district and led a group of protesters under #ThisFlower to demand an end to the country's worsening cash crisis.

Zvorwadza blamed the long queues on the clueless Zanu PF government's failed economic policies. The police is now being challenged at the High Court, with activists and opposition parties arguing cops did not have authority to issue a statutory instrument.
