President Robert Mugabe has warned opposition parties and their allies who have gathered under the banner of the National Electoral Reform Agenda (NERA), who are calling for tightening of illegal sanctions and organising the violent demonstrations , that government has lost its patience and will take very painful action to stop any further destructive actions.

In a wide ranging speech at the opening of the 103rd Zanu PF Central Committee meeting at the party headquarters in Harare, the President said the demonstrations are disturbing the party and government from concentrating on delivering the programmes enunciated in ZIM ASSET for the improvement of the lives of the people.

The President noted that the demonstrations by the opposition and their allies are meant to invite international attention on the country so that the ruling party is forced to form another inclusive government.

Mugabe said that should not be allowed to happen as Zanu PF won the people's mandate through the ballot box, in accordance with the constitution of Zimbabwe.

He praised the way the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has always conducted elections in the country saying democracy is alive in Zimbabwe.

The President warned the opposition groups against taking their violent acts to rural areas saying they are embarking on a dangerous path in which they will have no one to blame but themselves.

Turning to his own party Zanu PF Mugabe called for unity and discipline saying the party cannot afford to waste time on issues of disunity and indiscipline but concentrating on realising the programmes and projects to empower the people.

Mugabe once more took a swipe at the misuse of the social media by some who use it to attack government figures, institutions and individuals saying that should seize.

The President urged members of the central committee to encourage their communities to prepare adequately for the 2016-2017 planting season on the backdrop of a favourable weather forecast and the launching of the Command Agriculture Programme by government this year.
