Police in Maphisa have formally charged 23 of the originally 40 villagers who were arrested before engaging in a demonstration in the growth point yesterday morning.
17 others were discharged without any charges against them after police believed they had nothing to do with the demonstration.
The twenty three are due to appear in court this morning facing charges of disturbing free flow of traffic at the isolated growth point.
Amongst those charged are Matobo Senator Sithembile Mlotshwa and some village heads.
The group is represented by human rights lawyer Kholwani Nyathi from Abammeli Human Rights Lawyers in Bulawayo.
