Bulawayo province has stepped up preparations for the 17th edition of the Youth Education Through Sport (YES) games set to be hosted by Matabeleland North province in Hwange from 9 to 13 December 2016.
Sixty-six athletes will represent Bulawayo together with 15 technical officials in various sporting disciples that include soccer, netball and volleyball.
The province has successfully conducted induction workshops for its 5 districts in an effort to have them appreciate what is expected from them as well as their role in spearheading the province's campaign.
After finishing second best to hosts Mashonaland West last year, Team Bulawayo is focusing on mending its poor showing.
Bulawayo province sports and recreation coordinator Sam Dzvimbu said the games are key in modelling a sports person but also a complete and responsible citizen.
Bulawayo has set 26 and 27 November for its provincial competitions at Evelyne High School where the provincial team will be selected.
The YES games have three components with equal weighting on marks for a team to be crowned winners.
