NRZ to commission 31 prototype wagons

The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) yesterday said it will next week commission 31 new prototype wagons acquired from China.

NRZ spokesperson, Martin Banda said the commissioning ceremony will be on November 7 at the Bulawayo Railway Station.

Banda said the commissioning of 31 high-sided prototype wagons was the first step towards the restoration of NRZ's operational capacity through recapitalization and renewal of key equipment to bring the parastatal back on track.

He said this would restore its viability and make NRZ a preferred mover of bulk commodities once more, while making sure that the economy ticks.
