Vic Fall airport to be commissioned on November 18

The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe has announced that President Robert Mugabe will officially commission the Victoria Falls International Airport Development Project on November 18.
In a notice CAAZ General manager a D. Chawota said the CAAZ informs its valued clients that the Airport project commissioning is set for this month.
"The airport is the gateway to the Mighty Victoria Falls a World Heritage Site and one of the seven natural wonders of the world," reads the notice.
"The new Victoria Falls International Airport's features include the new international terminal building, a new 4km long by 60m wide runway, extended parking areas for aircraft, new control tower, new fire station, new road networks, a new state of the art international passenger terminal building and a refurbished domestic terminal with a capacity to handle 1,5 million passenger per annum. The apron area has a capacity to handle aircraft in the class of the B747 and equivalent."
The notice further states that the airport has a modern passenger facilities which include a compatible baggage handling system, Flight Information Display System (FIDS) and Common Use Passenger Processing System (CUPPS) system.
"This new state of the art airport will now accommodate long haul flights from around the globe which is expected to increase inflow of tourists of Zimbabwe," reads the notice.
