Wife axed to death as children watch

A jilted Jotsholo man - Elijah Khumalo fatally struck her estranged wife to death with an axe while their children watched.
Khumalo had been angered by his wife who had dumped her and returned to her parents.
However, on October 15, Khumalo pleaded with Sithembiso Mathwasa to meet him.
During the night Khumalo went to her bedroom hut and found Mathwasa with the children.
He had planned to seek forgiveness but Mathwasa would have non of it.
She asked Khumalo to leave and that angered him greatly.
Khumalo then picked an axe, struck her and fled the homestead leaving her to die.
Police launched a manhunt and managed to arrest Khumalo.
In court, magistrate Ndumo Masuki remanded him in custody to November 22 on a murder charge.
