Woman bashes fellow villagers with iron bar over unpaid debt

A woman from Insuza area in Matabeleland North is in trouble after she attacked a fellow villager for failing pay her back the money she owed her.
Simeleni Mpofu (31) was not asked to plead to attempted murder and assault when she appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya. The magistrate remanded her out of custody to November 29 for trial.
The court heard on October 31 this year Mpofu went to Sarah Dube's home where she demanded money from her.
When Dube said she had no money, Mpofu pounced on her with an iron bar and she sustained two deep cuts on the head and one on the ankle.
Mpofu further attacked another occupant of the home Evelyne Mpofu using the same iron bar and injured her arm.
The two victims were taken to St Lukes Hospital where they received treatment.
A report made to the police led to Mpofu's arrest.
