Zion Christian Church leader, Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi has warned church members against ambition urging them to respect present authority.

Preaching during the church's Easter conference before a crowd of 60 000 people in Masvingo, Mutendi accused some congregates of positioning themselves for higher positions that were not set aside for them by God .

"Never aspire for top positions since this kind of attitude would lead you to be heathens and your position to heaven won't be guaranteed. Church members should be content with the positions that God gave them instead of wanting other people's positions. Never wish to succeed someone, God has a good reason why he put you where you are and aiming for other people's positions is not God's wish but it is akin to the devil's greediness," said the Bishop.

"You must not look down upon those that lead you but appreciate their leadership. You also don't have to compare your present leaders with the preceding authorities but just accept them as they are and appreciate their wisdom to lead," he said.

Mutendi said Lucifer envied Jesus' position and ended up falling from grace together with a third of the angels.

"You should always submit to your leaders and unconditionally respect the authority at every entry point, it may be in a bus where there is conductor or driver, and you should respect their presence, once you get into their vehicle.Take heed of the advice that you are given by your church leaders. Submit yourself before your present leaders," he said.

"If you don't believe in the blood that was shed on the cross then you can't say you believe in Jesus Christ."
