United Family International Church (UFIC) founder, Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa has forgiven the Daily News over a billboard published last year. The celebrated preacher also withdrew a High Court case against the newspaper on Monday.

Makandiwa's move followed an apology from the paper's editor, which was read and broadcast via an electronic billboard for the UFIC congregation at City Sports Centre on Sunday. UFIC, through its spokesperson Prime Kufakunesu, confirmed the withdrawal of the case.

"Yes UFIC has withdrawn the case filed at the high court after receiving an apology from Daily News," said Kufakunesu.

"Let it be known that it was not the church's intention to sue Daily News but expecting them to do the right thing, which they failed to do in the beginning until our lawyers took action. We expected a retraction or an apology which they have finally done at this last minute and we accepted it.

"It was not the issue of money but we were calling for love among us. We informed our church members on Sunday because UFI is a family and they are very passionate with their father, Prophet Makandiwa.

"It was important for them to know the apology after they have been touched by the damaged done to their father by the billboard," added Kufakunesu.
