United Methodist Church set for 117th anniversary

The United Methodist Church (UMC) in Zimbabwe will this August celebrate its 117 years of existence in an event that is expected to attract thousands of people at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
UMC Episcopal Area Bishop, Eben Kanukayi Nhiwatiwa said the church has managed to contribute towards the education and health in Zimbabwe.
Bishop Nhiwatiwa said the church has built a number of hospitals and schools which include the Africa University.
The convention, which will be held from the 15th to the 17th of August, is expected to bring together more than 30000 congregants from around the country.
UMC is one of the traditional churches that have contributed much to the economy of Zimbabwe through the building and supporting of mission schools.
