The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has urged churches to desist from keeping money at their premises following a number of robberies after services.
Police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said there have been some robberies targeting churches especially on Sundays, urging them to deposit their monies with local banking institutions.
"Some churches in Harare, Zvishavane and Kadoma have been robbed of amounts ranging from US$5000 to US$30000 by syndicates. We also suspect that some of the robberies are inside jobs, but churches should bank to minimise robberies," he said.
"Churches must deposit finances that have been given as offerings and tithes. It is also important for them to realise that the money that they collect must benefit congregants and is not for personal use," said Apostle Mobile Sande of True Vine Faith Ministries
Police also urged members of the public to be vigilant and report all suspicious persons.
