Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has hailed the church's role in the promotion of peace, unity and development in line with government policies on indigenisation and economic development.

Mnangagwa called on Christians to preach peace, unity and development for Zimbabwe, while praying hard to achieve eternal life.
The Vice President walked the ZCC members down the memory lane and chronicled the 1964 Fort Victoria train bombing in which he participated to free the majority of Zimbabweans from the Rhodesian white minority rule.
Speaking on the same occasion, ZCC leader, Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi expressed happiness at government's continuous support for indigenous churches, adding that President Robert Mugabe is a God-given leader who recognises the importance of Christianity in the country.
Meanwhile, religious leaders from various denominations say the Easter holidays must serve as a rallying point to achieve national goals.
As Zimbabwe joins the rest of the world in commemorating Easter holidays church leaders have called on Zimbabweans to emulate the selflessness of Jesus Christ in ensuring that the nation prospers.
Zimbabweans have also been reminded to remember the essence of Easter by exercising peace during the holidays.
