Speak to Them Josh - Joshua Nkomo Poem

23 Dec 2013 at 12:20hrs | Views

(On Main Street and 8th Avenue Intersection, Bulawayo-April 2010)
Speak to them Old Josh
Crowds wait to listen to you
To listen to truths about governance
They await to listen
Your voice must be heard again
Speak to them Old Josh

Speak to them Mqabuko
In your absence hundreds gathered
Multitudes await where you're supposed to be
Impatient over your true representation
So they stand in front of your fake
Speak to them Mqabuko

Speak to them Mdala
Against long heard lies
So long been misled
Long heard false promises
All along experienced wicked prophesies
Speak to them Mdala

Speak to them Nyongolo
Address their suffering and pain
Talk to them once again
Attend to their confusion and plight
Gather them one more time
Speak to them Nyongolo

Speak to them Bab'uNkomo
The people want to be led
In their silence they seek leadership
Leadership that will move forward with peace
Peace that will breed immeasurable prosperity
Speak to them Bab'uNkomo

Speak to them Mafukufuku
Anticipating to hear you call them "Bantwabami!"
Ready to respond to you in one voice, "Baba!"
Yearning to hear you say ,"I lizwe ngelethu!"
Your voice in their ears, music,"nxa ufuna imali phendulela ibala elithi mali, lima!"
Speak to them Mafukufuku

Speak to them Chibwechitedza
Open mouthed they wait in anticipation
In tears they grieve for your return
They cry, vuka baba okunje kuyehlula!
Wailing ,sukuma baba lokhu akuseyikho!
Speak to them Chibwechitedza

Speak to them Father Zimbabwe
Give them the strenghth to move on
Show unto their midst the will to live
Sow unto their midst the spirit of survival
Come down and show them the way
Speak to them Father Zimbabwe
