There is urgent need for the president through a courageous minister to protect the rights of the girl child and work towards ending both child and women abuse.  We call on the president and his government to give the first lady a chance to lead the ministry so that she can better the country for all, especially women and children.  Dr Mugabe is a family woman who understands the need for a father and mother to provide the basic needs for their children.

Successive ministers have failed women, children and that time have come for real change that can positively transform the lives of the people. The first lady as a minister will without delay continued traversing the country in her campaign trail preaching messages of good leadership, economic growth, reducing the prices of basic commodities such as mealie meal and fuel among other things. Zimbabweans need to give her a vote because she is determined to serve the interest of the nation. Her ministry would immediately embark on economic programmes aimed at lifting the majority of women, children from abject poverty. The first lady's priority would be to economically empower women in all parts of the country. Many young people in our society do not have jobs-their basic right. Once put into office she will talk to the president about unemployment and education so that we can make education accessible for all and job creation a national priority. Those vendors and the unemployed are left alone to sell their products and operate car washes so as to support their families.

This scourge continued to compromise the girl child's health, education and opportunities. Girls are being married for economic reasons, for many families living in poverty, child marriages is now a source of income and economic survival strategy. Hundreds of girls across the country are being abused, married off to older men each day a practice mainly attributed to high levels of poverty and unemployment.  There is urgent need to step up human rights sensitisation campaigns in rural areas. The only person to do this is firebrand Grace Mugabe as Minister of Women Affairs. Most people in rural areas were ignorant about their rights, child protection issues and were therefore being abused. Communities must be educated on their rights for them to protect vulnerable children and women.
