Mugabe appears in court over fraud

Two Bulawayo alleged bogus Estate agents officials have been dragged to the court for defrauding a resident of over $13 000 in a botched housing stand deal.

Progress Ndlovu (43) and Jesina Mugabe (35) pleaded not guilty to the charge of fraud. Before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya. They were remanded to May 26 for continuation of trial.

The court heard that in October 2016 Blessed Dube of Magwegwe North contacted Ndlovu saying he needed a residential stand to buy. Ndlovu invited him to view the stand. The two took him to stand number 211 Newton West.

He then got interested in acquiring the stand and was told that it was worth $15 000. On October 10 2016 the two with Wilson Banda met the complainant at Mugabe's place.

Wilson introduced himself as the owner of the stand and produced a fake ID inserted with his face but in the name of Henry Muzhari and a certified copy of the title deeds in the name of Henry Muzhari .

They then gave him a bank account in which he would pay the money for the stand through. An agreement of sale was signed between the parties and Dube paid $300 for the drafting of the agreement of sale.

Dube later paid a total of $12 800 towards the purchase of the stand. He later discovered that the stand did not belong to any of them and he reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the two.

Dube was prejudiced a total of $13 100.
