Poem: Restore Africa, Restore!
03 Nov 2017 at 06:10hrs | Views
We declared our own sovereignty,
We sang our own liberation songs,
We took ownership of what rightfully belonged to us,
We successfully extricated ourselves from the ruthless imperialists.
What then have we done with the liberty OH Africa?
What then have we done with the state of independence OH Africa?
What then have we achieved with that which rightfully belongs to us OH Africa?
What then have we got out of our own liberation songs, OH Africa?
Why do we have union of African leaders instead of the unity of African Peoples?
Why do our leaders fail to favour the growth of a democratic pan African solidarity?
Why do we have a democratization movement that is locked into narrow nationalistic boundaries?
Why do we have leaders who are unwilling to relinquish power for some higher ideal?
When is Africa going to share "equally" the gains of the struggle?
When is Africa going to stand firm in ensuring resolutions from its forums?
When is Africa going to be proud of being truly African?
When is Africa going to shun avaricious leadership?
Restore Africa, restore, Your dignity and integrity!
Restore Africa, Restore, Your identity and audacity!
Restore Africa, Restore, Your tenacity and sagacity!
Restore Africa, Restore, Your ability and capacity!
