Mpofu rallies his troops behind ED's vision

The Minister of Home Affairs and Culture, Dr Obert Mpofu, has called on his newly restructured Ministry to follow in the footsteps of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and heat the ground running in their duties.
He was speaking at a team building workshop, held at the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Golf Club in Harare, for top level officials in his Ministry.
"I wish to welcome you all heads of departments and parastatals to this important meeting, where we are gathered to share the ministerial vision and to chart the course of action towards the delivery of our collective mandate," said the Minister in his opening remarks.
Minister Mpofu elucidated the need for 'Operation Restore Legacy' as a last resort which was necessitated by the need to save the people of Zimbabwe from a social, economic and political meltdown that would have eroded the gains of the country's hard-won independence.
The Minister stressed the need for unity of purpose going forward and a shared sense of loyalty to the Zimbabwean cause.
"The operation also aimed at isolating and weeding out criminal elements whose behaviour was fuelling tensions amongst ZANU-PF party members and causing the suffering of many Zimbabweans due to economic meltdown.
"That, the misguided elements had to be halted dead in their tracks was increasingly becoming evident, this background is necessary so that we are reading from the same page going onwards." said Cde Mpofu.
Cde Mpofu welcomed the inclusion of the culture portfolio in the Ministry of Home Affairs as a task he will take seriously as he intends to promote a culture of zero tolerance to corruption.
He further explained that the coming in of the culture component was in line with President Mnangagwa's vision of a leaner and more efficient cabinet.
"The President, Cde E.D. Mnangagwa has been quite clear on what he wants and has already shown commitment to fulfilling his promises like creating a lean Cabinet - we have since witnessed that promise come to fruition," said Minister Mpofu.
Minister Mpofu reiterated that the time of talking without action was a thing of the past as the new dispensation demanded that Government officials be more result oriented and action based.
He guaranteed his officials that departmental heads would be making follow-ups on set goals and to enforce strict measures to ensure realisation of set targets.
"I, together with the Permanent Secretary will follow-up on all work activities and processes to ensure that we fulfil our promises to the nation," said Minister Mpofu.
