Does Zimbabwe really have a strong opposition party or they're opportunists eager to jump onto gravy train?

The reason why Zimbabwean people have lost interest in voting has all to do with the opposition. When one talks of opposition in Zimbabwe it is MDC T which comes into picture. The rest are like extras in a movie for their support base is limited to areas they are from, in other words regional opposition. I will focus on the main opposition party, the MDC T led by Morgan Tsvangirai.

The MDC -T has been the biggest let down to Zimbabwean people eager to see the back of Zanu pf.It started on a good note but along the way lost the plot due to many reasons. From being a credible party they allowed themselves to be infiltrated by government state agents who caused it to split. Like a person from a slumber they began to see tribalism, regionalism and so on.The end was a big split but still Morgan Tsvangirai had a huge  following . This gave the ruling party headaches. An ailing Tsvangirai is still a  threat to Zanu pf.

In 2008 Morgan Tsvangirai won the elections and the current President of Zimbabwe and his deputy came with ways to deny Tsvangirai the presidency. Results were delayed to be announced while the Army decided ways to retain power.A run off was called for and the army which had done covert operations for Zanu pf now openely showed people whose side they were on as they engaged in brutal campaigns to make sure Mugabe would win.

This was MDC -T s biggest mistake to accept a run -off and later decided not to be part of it.The reason was genuine as opposition supporters were tortured, killed and homes burnt by Zanu pf thugs. The Botswana President, lan Khama, was the only Sadc Head of state who openly denounced the Zimbabwean government which meant Tsvangirai could have sought refuge there and form a government in exile.Khama could have accepted him with open arms. Our biggest letdown , former President of South Africa ,Mbeki mulled a government of unity.

Another second costly blunder by the opposition ,they agreed to join the  government of unit ,that ugly product was born christened GNU.
The GNU only served Zanu pf interests as the opposition played second fiddle to crafty Zanu pf. The GNU came to an end and the opposition like always woke up from its slumber to say no reforms were implemented as agreed prior to GNU formation.

The cries died down and Zanu pf continued to rule with impunity.Yes ,in a way certain things were back to normal.During the GNU workers started receiving salaries in foreign currency and empty shelves were now awash with all items that had disappeared from shops. After GNU the opposition continued to show signs of threat to the blood thirsty Zanu pf.

As fate would have it Grace Mugabe would join Zanu pf , a blessing in disguise to the opposition. Factions became the order of the day as Zanu pf was showing major signs of cracks.

The then President ,R G Mugabe ,would later expel his deputy at the insistence of his ambitious wife who wanted to succeed him.At this juncture l want to point out that the military involvement was neither for restoring legacy as they called it or for ordinary Zimbabwean people. They feared a lot of things, chief among them going to ICC to answer for Gukurahundi .To say it was for the Zimbabweans is a big lie to the people of Zimbabwe. It was to cover their backs and this they will do until the guys who were part of Gukurahundi are dead or advanced in age that people will feel sorry to make them face the music.

This comes to the third mistake committed by the opposition parties all combined.A day before the march to force Mugabe communique was circulated to this effect. All and sundry were happy to be part of this march. For the first time the police would not stop anyone ,the Army would "protect" marchers! Mind this was happening in all cities and towns throughout Zimbabwe at the glare of the media world wide. Was this not an opportunity for the opposition to say NO its not just Mugabe but go all of you? With the world watching was the army going to turn against the angry masses.?

Instead the opposition gullible as they are urged their supporters to join ! They say one can never be fooled for the second time. They joined and the march was a success they claimed .Now they are at the top of mountain summits  shouting "we were used by the junta"when the opportunity had presented it self.

This comes to my conclusion that our opposition is just but opportunists who are seeking higher office to enjoy perks that come with being in high office. After the junta take over the opposition  was busy coming with cabinet lists including their members! Nelson Chamisa is showing traits of a power hungry man with bigger ambitions.
