'Hold me to account for my pledges,' says ED - good, he pledged free and fair elections

The more I listens to President Emerson Mnangagwa the more I dislike the man. He is a corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs who is out to con everyone that he has changed when he has not changed one bit!

There is no questioning that Robert Mugabe was a corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous dictator and his Zanu PF regime was, per se, ruthless de facto one-party dictatorship. The central question the world, even more significantly the people of Zimbabwe, have asked since last November's coup is: Did the coup end the Zanu PF dictatorship or did it merely removed one dictator, Mugabe, only to replace him with a new dictator, Emerson Mnangagwa?

President Mnangagwa has answered this question himself again and again every time he has opened his mouth!

"Addressing supporters on his Facebook page, Mnangagwa said in a "new Zimbabwe", leaders must be open, transparent and accountable to the people unlike under the last Robert Mugabe regime," reported Bulawayo 24.

"I invite everyone to keep hold of these pledge cards and hold me accountable for these pledges.

"Anyone found guilty of corruption will be immediately fired and punished accordingly; no one is above the law," he said.

He claims that "no one is above the law" and yet that is exactly what he is claiming for himself in his diktat! He wants the nation to hold him to account but only for whatever he has done after last November's coup beyond that he wants "bygones to be bygones!"

President Mnangagwa was more than Robert Mugabe's right-hand man, he is the man the tyrant entrusted with most of his dirtiest jobs of looting, vote rigging and politically motivated brutal repression. The very suggestion that only Robert Mugabe was responsible for all the gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and political thuggery of the last 37 years is a mockery of justice and an insult to the victims.

The law and justice are about historic events; no one is ever charged, much less, convicted of a crime based on a prophecy of an event yet to happen. President Mnangagwa is behaving like a stereotypical dictator whose whim is the law.

Indeed, President Mnangagwa is making a big song and dance about how in the "new Zimbabwe" everyone to, including himself, accountable and yet is dishing out invalid "pledge cards"! He has pledged to hold free, fair and credible elections and yet has flatly refused to implement even one democratic reform to guarantee free and fair elections.

President Mnangagwa and his junta are an illegitimate regime; there was no legally and constitutional justification for staging a military coup, not even to remove a dictator. President Mnangagwa had no choice but to promise, to pledge, holding free, fair and credible elections as an admission of the regime's unconstitutional seizure of power and willingness to return to legitimacy a.s.a.p. This is the one promise, the Zanu PF junta must be held to account over if it failures to deliver.
