Bring back our pork-pie
21 Aug 2018 at 15:57hrs | Views
Whilst executing my errands in Harare CBD yesterday, pangs of hunger began tugging in my tummy and I reached for a soda and pork pie. The later proved a complete disappointment, calling it a pork pie now does little justice to what it is.
The outer crust covering and wrapper all look innocent and quite appealing. Breaking it open or taking a bite will get you shaking with anger and disbelief. The pork portion has been reduced to a 'pebble-like shade of meat' sitting in the middle of nothing.
Its now 'empty' inside the pork- pie. I could not belief what I was looking at, in a fit of rage I threw the crumpled 'air-pie' away. Indeed something is wrong with today's pork-pie, rather the manufacturers increase the price than taking consumers down the garden path.
That was no pork-pie at all, more like an imitation for use when playing house. A few years ago the pork-pie was the snack of choice, quite filling and tasty. The inside was 'full' of balled meat that made the pork-pie stand head above shoulders when compared to other eats.
Who tampered with our pork-pie and trying to achieve what? If it was done in the frenzied effort to make more money then count me out. I would never make the same mistake that had me almost fainting with both hunger and anger. Bring back the original pork-pie the real deal. Good bye pork-pie.
