Remember the voiceless NSSA pensioners

Whilst workers in almost all sectors of our economy are 'crying' for a raise to cushion themselves against the prevailing price madness  no one is talking about the plight of NSSA pensioners.

Indeed times are hard and in response government has awarded civil servants a 'cushion allowance' to mitigate the suffering.

The already 'worse off' NSSA pensioners have been virtually condemned to extreme deprivation and certain demise. This group of elders are voiceless, have no representation and most of them are of poor health, perpetually taking expensive life saving medications.

In this harsh economic environment how are NSSA pensioners going to survive let alone make ends meet? Getting a paltry eighty dollars monthly pay out, the pensioners are living in abject poverty. In fact they are 'no more living but just existing', merely keeping body and soul together.

Oftentimes old age comes with numerous illnesses especially noncommunicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension and arthritis. NSSA pensioners desperately need to be cushioned against the hard times in currency. They worked hard for our nation please give NSSA pensioners a living  payout.

When authorities sit down to discuss workers welfare, may you please remember the voiceless NSSA pensioners.
