Let's remember the orphans this winter
14 Apr 2019 at 19:20hrs | Views
Very soon it will be winter, a relief from the scotching heat but a winter with its own attendant vagaries. Many from vulnerable communities will not escape the biting cold and the subsequent colds and flu.
A stitch in time serves nine and the best medicine is prevention. Needy people from poor communities need help in the form of warm clothes and blankets.
Surely there are discarded jerseys and jackets lying about in drawers and wardrobes in some home, items that could go a long way in keeping poor souls warm this winter. Village orphans and child headed families, people with nothing need your help and mine.
Some widows only have themselves for company with no one to look up to, no blankets, nothing. Let us as Zimbabweans assist the less fortunate among us. The time to mobilise the items is now, waiting for the outside world may be too late. Abject poverty needs no marketers or hailers because its visible.
No need for middle-men, middle-women or representatives since one can simply donate directly to the needy. Some churches have departments responsible for charity, the time is now to collect and give to the poor.
Drought is also upon us, a bucket of maize meal to that child headed family would provide a meal, every morsel counts. Hospitality and a big heart is what makes us a unique creation.
Praise be to God.
