NSSA pensioners are 'dying a little each day'

The National Social Security Authority must do more to ameliorate the suffering of NSSA pensioners who are 'dying a little each day'.

It has been alleged talks, consultations and requests but with nothing materialising for the elderly pensioners who are literally starving. The latest round of price hikes has been the proverbial last straw leaving the poor pensioners unable to buy basic commodities.

If its bread, I shall not speak since its all there for everyone to see and appreciate the problem. I am sure statistics through funeral grants claims would reveal a risen mortality rate among NSSA pensioners. The eighty RTGS they get monthly has now been eroded by the 'raging exchange rate' and the rising inflation.

Is the Hon. Minister of the relevant Ministry not aware of the plight of NSSA pensioners? May be they want numbers to 'naturally go down' so they can pay a few thereby reducing the payout bill.

What else could be the reason for such a loud silence on the matter? Most of these pensioners are of ill health suffering from old age related diseases and conditions. Hon. Members of Parliament have gone quiet over the issue of NSSA pensioners who look up to them for a 'voice'.

The old pensioners now speak in whispers on account of fading voices, help the old pensioners so they can get a living payout and lead decent lives.
