Dealing with Vuzu parties and drug abuse

There is need for a research to understand causal factors for the wild and risky behavior of young people in Bulawayo, we may assume we know the reasons but maybe let's find out through a proper study. Section 19 and 20 of the Zimbabwe Constitution talks about government taking measures to protect children and measures to support youths respectively but that can effectively be done through understanding the root causes of these problems.

At community level there is need for Joint Youth - Community Behavioral and Motivation Committees to try and inculcate a new mindset on these young people besides thinking about Neighborhood Watch Committees.

This behavior also has taken some spiritual cultism. A number of these wild young people have committed suicide almost in a similar fashion. For the superstitious ones, you may think its linked to Satanism.

Guardians and parents need to accept that these children maybe suffering from mental illness and take them for counseling. It is uncommon for our society to accept that someone is mentally ill until they start scavenging from the bin.

Perhaps we need to reconsider whether the current crop of young people is still attracted to the existing youth centres, maybe the world has moved on we need to mordenise entertaining for young people than expect them to be at the traditional youth centres. ,

Lastly parents must also be aware that drugs addiction is longer about youths but also children as young as primary school goers who are sold scones and cakes made up of dagga (mbanje) in primary schools, they develop cravings and buy from this evil sellers everyday . So they grow up addicts later graduate to broncho and other related drugs and end up putting icing by participating in Vuzu parties. This problem needs all stakeholders to come together before the lives of children are permanently destroyed by these evil and heartless people living within our neighborhoods
