Ziyambi should stop huffing and puffing

18 May 2021 at 06:53hrs | Views
JUSTICE minister Ziyambi Ziyambi must understand that the term democracy means: government of the people, for the people and by the people.

As such that definition has been rendered irrelevant in Zimbabwe because of the egotist attitude of Zanu-PF officials.

Zanu-PF thinks it owns the people of Zimbabwe such that it can do whatever it pleases with them.

The reason why Zanu-PF rushed to amend the Constitution under the cover of COVID-19 is it doesn't want to come up with people-driven amendments. The ruling party wants to rule with an iron fist by instilling fear in people and now Ziyambi has extended the threats to judges.

Ziyambi's insinuation that the European Union and the United States are sponsoring nongovernmental organisations to destablise Zimbabwe are completely unfounded.

Justice was served and one wonders why the EU and US are being dragged into a purely Zimbabwean internal issue? Where do they come in?

Former Chief Justice Luke Malaba has reached retirement age so he should do the honourable thing. We can't amend the Constitution for self-aggrandisement.

Zimbabweans should hail the High Court judgment and judges should not be victimised for doing their job professionally.
