Mugabe to win again!

Now that the constitution making process is coming to an end, Zimbabweans across the globe are looking foward to the general elections scheduled for the aftermath of June.Analyst are already cracking their minds on who is going to steal the voter's hearts between President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirayi. Opinion polls contacted by American political think suggested that President has gained popularity against PM Tsvangirayi's dwindling support base in both rural and urban Zimbabwe. Prof Welshman Ncube has also gained a lot of supporters due to his people based programmes and a clean corruption record in the government of national unity(GNU) but political analyst Ibbo Mandaza suggested otherwise. Mandaza said Mugabe and Tsvangirayi will be the main actors of the political film of Zimbabwe and Prof Ncube is a supporting act.

ZANU Pf, Mugabe's party has been scouring for support all over Zimbabwe,to the extend that some ministers have exchanged their Amarni suits for 'minembo'white robs just to ganer support. A Popular Apostle was qouted as saying that he will give President Mugabe at least two millio voters by providing housing stands to Zanu Pf sympathisers.

Coupled with people oriented programmes such as the indiginisation and black empowerment programme and the land reform, President Mugabe has proven to be a force to reckon with at 89 years old.The oct leader has gain the lost ground and has managed to woe voters in the so called MDCT strongholds of Harare, Matebeleland and Manicaland Provinces.

Now analyst say if Mugabe wins again, Zimbabwe will enter into the Guiness world records as the most dull citizens to vote for an 89 year old person for Presidency. It seems as if Zimbos dont mind as they have lost hope in human rights defender, PM Tsvangirayi whose sex scandals shocked the nation last year. Some say his paper reforms wont put food on the table. Results from the Kenyan elections, a country which experience the same situation of vote rigging, violence and inclusive governance has given hope to President Mugabe and has come as a suprise to Raila Odinga, PM Tsvangirayi's ally.

As Africans we never learn from our problems and past expriences,we confuse democracy with emprealism. Poverty striken Zimbabweans are going to exchange their vote for land and food in the expense of peace, freedom and economic development.
