If Mugabe could understand a carpenter, why not Tsvangirai

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai made revelation last week at the World Economic Forum on Africa about how "frustrating" it has been negotiating with "somebody who lost an election" (Robert Mugabe).

In African politics being an intellectual counts for nothing - so-called intellectuals behave no different to non-intellectuals.

Black rule came far far too soon for black Africa - Africa needed a few centuries more before getting black rule - the people are just not civilised enough to conduct peaceful elections [2008 election].

There's a world of difference between having an education and being civilised as we have seen in Zimbabwe where you cannot tell the difference between educated people and the uneducated.

Civilized means - having advanced cultural and social development or showing high moral development or refined in tastes. Zimbabwe is very backward - little wonder the whites excluded us from voting before 1979".

South African President Jacob Zuma is a former teaboy, the late vice-president Joseph Msika was a mere carpenter, the late vice president Simon Muzenda was a mere carpenter, late minister Maurice Nyagumbo was a waiter, Josiah Tongogara was a former farm worker [he worked at Ian Smith's farm in Selukwe, now Shurugwi], Mernad Muzariri the late deputy director of CIO was a mere primary school drop-out and so are the majority of top security chiefs - the list is endless.

If Mugabe can have a conversation with Mernad Muzariri or Simon Muzenda I cannot see why he cannot have a sensible conversation with Morgan Tsvangirai.

Mugabe himself doesn't show much intellect - for example - how can he stand in front of the world press and utter unintelligible nonsense that the Western powers are trying to control our natural resources and those of North Africa?

Is he patronising us or does he sincerely believes in what he was saying because no foreign power is going to come in the dead of night and extract diamonds without us knowing, is there? Nor are Western powers going to go in the dead of night and siphon barrels of oil from Libyan oilfields without the local Libyans knowing about it?

Mnangangwa, who is supposed to be a lawyer, shows no intellect when he says, "I was trained to kill" or when another lawyer, Patrick Chinamasa says "These are retired members who feel that they should defend the party and country against any attack by the same imperialists who once colonised us" - which imperialists are about to attack the country out of all other central and southern African states?

Despite the array of so-called intellect in the Zanupf ranks the country experienced a WORLD RECORD rate of inflation leading to the use of American currency. What use is the intellect?
