'MDC-T condemns Mugabe's utterances'

26 Aug 2013 at 15:23hrs | Views
The MDC strongly condemns the utterances made by Zanu-PF's Robert Mugabe at the National Heroes' Acre on Sunday that the cities of Harare and Bulawayo will not be assisted by his illegally elected government because they voted for the MDC-T. The MDC-T finds such statements as extremely outrageous.

The deplorable demeanour by Mugabe clearly shows the factious nature of a leader taking a cue from his equally factious Zanu-PF party. The unfortunate statement by Mugabe, coming hardly a week after he pledged at his infamous inauguration that he was prepared to work with everyone, clearly shows his insincerity in whatever he says and does. This inherent level of intolerance in Mugabe and his Zanu-PF is legendary and will not move this nation forward.

Mugabe wants to intimidate the residents of Harare and Bulawayo after he failed to steal their votes on 31 July like what he did in other provinces. Zanu-PF and Mugabe should know that the people of Zimbabwe will not be intimidated by such reckless statements and will remain resolute in their fight for real change and a new Zimbabwe. The MDC urges the residents of Harare and Bulawayo to dismiss Mugabe's statements as they will not in any way help in building the future of Zimbabwe, which has been run down by the same Zanu-PF regime.
