Amendments to the 'IsiNdebele section' of the Zimbabwean passport

23 Mar 2014 at 08:21hrs | Views

Suggested amendments to the "IsiNdebele section" of the Zimbabwean passport :

1.The correct Ndebele name for Passport is "IPHASIPOTI " and not Pasipoti. "Pasipoti" is Shona.

2. "Imithetho YOKUPIWA kwePASIPOTI" must be changed to "Imithetho Yokuphiwa kwePhasipoti", which is the correct IsiNdebele . 'Yokupiwa" is clearly a derivative from "Kupiwa" which is Shona word.

3.AKUVHUNYELWA..... ISIDHINDO etc must be changed to Akuvunyelwa....Isidindo. Akuvhunyelwa and Isidhindo are Shona-based "bastards" of IsiNdebele words.

How can a sane government allow the butchering of other people's languages in official documents for a good 34 years? Several complaints have been made to Zimbabwe's Ministry of Home Affairs by the Ndebele speaking people but nobody seems to be care or listen.
