ZANU-PF should not be lulled by MDC-T confusion

They say in Shona, rine manyanga hariputirwi, as the truth always has a way of coming out, albeit at inappropriate times!

Such is the scenario in the beleaguered MDC-T where confusion and chaos is now the order of the day. Indeed, one does not need to subscribe to movie channels these days as all the thrills, suspense and stunning twists are adequately catered for by the party.

However, in as much as the MDC-T circus is highly entertaining, I urge ZANU-PF lawmakers not to be lulled by the goings-on, but should instead take this opportunity to concentrate on their mandate of uplifting the lives of the electorate whose interests they safeguard.

As the MDC-T has been exposed for the fickle puppet show it is, now is the time that ZANU-PF councilors and Members of Parliament should take full charge of their constituencies and concentrate on fulfilling the promises they made during the campaign period without hindrance from anti-progressive individuals.

Even in constituencies where ZANU-PF lost, the losing candidates should still work for the development of the constituency and come 2018, the people will have seen who truly has their interests at heart.

As the power hungry and faction-driven opposition legislators battle for power and control of the party, it is unfortunately, the electorate who suffer as developmental projects remain forgotten. All pretense of having gotten into office to represent the wishes and fight for the rights of those who voted have since been dropped.

In the same vein, it was worrying to read in the press that some ZANU-PF MP's failed to submit the now-mandatory performance reports for the first quarter of 2014 to national chairperson Simon Khaya Moyo.

The reports are meant to "review progress made in meeting the people's needs, aspirations and expectations."

Such a review is indeed necessary and Moyo should crack the whip on those who failed to honour the requirement.

Gone are the days when MP's where elected to just sit in parliament and spend taxpayer's money only to resurface in their constituencies during the next election period.
