Of clueless leaders and overzealous followers

File photo: MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai
If ever I needed any convincing that Tsvangirai has run out of ideas, if he ever had any to start with, then his statements over the weekend have left me with no doubt.
Addressing a poorly attended rally at Ziko, Seke communal area just outside Chitungwiza recently, Tsvangirai called on party youths to prepare for mass demonstrations "to pressure the ZANU-PF government to generate employment and stimulate the economy."
This statement is so pathetic and foolish on so many fronts I don't know where to start.
Firstly, Tsvangirai knows that his "mob psychology" tactics have been proven to fail time and time again. Foolishness is repeating the same process over and over again while expecting the results to be different.
At a time when the country needs progressive-minded individuals to provide economic input and ideas and people-centered opposition leaders who are willing to challenge government with economic recovery strategies, our own clueless Tsvangirai is busy thinking of buying Zed for the youths and sending them on an ill-fated toyi-toying mission in the streets.
So much for leadership, or did Biti leave with all the brains in the MDC-T when they divorced?
Secondly I tried and tried but still cannot begin to fathom how a mass demonstration is supposed to miraculously result in an improved economy and provision of jobs. The reasons for a high unemployment rate and an under-performing system are economical. As such, solutions should be of the same manner not barbaric or magical.
So Tsvangirai, even if the police decided to indulge you and some misguided followers marched from here to Timbuktu, at the end of the day, they will go back home and still find their fridges empty and the unemployment rate still sky high.
To top it off, they would have worn out a good pair of shoes and dropped vital kgs in weight and all the while, you will be comfortably tucked in your Highlands mansion drinking tea.
"Cowardice has affected this country; the youths should be brave and face the enemy demanding the promised jobs," Tsvangirai also proclaimed.
He is a fine one to talk of cowardice! Never have I heard that Tsvangirai himself has "demanded" to see President Mugabe, presumably the enemy he refers to. Indeed, during the time of the Inclusive Government, all pictures I saw were of him grinning from ear to ear while taking tea with his "enemy". It's apparent Tsvangirai prefers to shamelessly hide behind the skirts of the masses.
And I heard job Sikhala foolishly declaring at the same platform that he was prepared to die for Tsvangirai. Awee Sikhala have you ever died my friend?
I found the incessant use of "we" in his speech not only irritating but highly misleading. You and who?
Who else said they want to die for someone who is living in a government mansion, still receiving a paycheck from government and who is also enjoying proceeds from a US $1, 5 million "loan". Sikhala my dear buffoon, the man you are busy threatening to die for (although the loss would be to your clan only), is busy enjoying the benefits of the same system and individuals whom you claim to be fighting against.
Piece of advice Sikhala, first check or investigate your master's sincerity in the cause before you die. We wouldn't want that huge amount of flesh to go to waste when it can be put to better use building the country.
