Cuthbert Dube Is Taking Zimbabweans For Granted
12 Jul 2014 at 14:58hrs | Views
I read with youthful amazement that the former PSMAS Chairman is now dragging the PSMAS organization to courts to try and get unpaid salaries through an agreed contract that had not expired at the time he was relieved of his duties due to public outcry. He still believes his contract is legal and should entitle him to obscene salaries no matter what Zimbabwe says or holds. If all was well, why was he relieved of duty? Was that not a good sign already that something was amiss? Why was there a massive exodus of stakeholders from PSMAS to CIMAS? Why was there a restructuring? Why did Mukwesha keep making Press updates on Dube developments? Does that mean the public was wrong and only him was right? Zimbabwe.
In summary this is what I can describe as the comfort that abounds when a system lacks consequences on noted violations. This is the true sign of corruption. No wonder Dube still heads the national soccer body besides his history on corruption. The Zimbabwean community is already angry over the Cashbert issue. He got overpaid for an undeserving issue. He literally destroyed that organization as he milked it and performed poorly. In any case the deal was premised on an unconscionable contract and there is no way he can still come back to claim such an exorbitant figure in a situation that he knows he has dirty hands. Dube took advantage of an unwary and unaccountable PSMAS. He got away with it and even the President of Zimbabwe benignly reprimanded him at the podium for being a bit unreasonable and greedy.
If it were for other countries, the very people who drafter such an unconscionable contract and Dube humself could be behind bars as we speak. He got overpaid and under-delivered. He totally appreciated the nature of the Zimbabwean economy. Patients were not being served well. The employment contract was mired with substantial and procedural loopholes that saw him harvest millions of dollars under a fledgling economy. That was the very reason Cuthbert Dube had to be relieved of his duties. And now that the government looked the other way to let time heal public anger, he emerges with counsel to fight for the very reason that triggered public anger and discomfort.
It would have been proper for criminal sanctions to be applied fast before the dust had settled. Now that time has healed the process, Dube believes what the contract stated was right and the whole of Zimbabwe is wrong. All the prejudiced stakeholders were wrong and only Dube is right. He thinks the world owes him. If I were in the Prosecuting authority right now, this could be the right moment to swoop on this man and straighten him up.
He was actually supposed to pay back the funds he wrongfully took as salary and benefits. After that he was then supposed to issue a public apology and be banned for life from occupying any public office of influence. The corrupt stance of the system right now allows Dube to walk away with sin and then he bounces back to demand the very loot that he believes was meant for him as of right under such lopsided labour contract.
If I were Cuthbert Dube, I would be praying and thanking my Gid that I never went to jail. That salary award was gross, exorbitant, corrupt, unfair and outrageously shocking. He still must either pay back and also issue a public apology. We have suffered enough in Zimbabwe through these shefs covering up for each other as Zimbabwe continues to die. If you have any questions please just look at the economy and the rate at which companies are closing. Then we have a looter emerging to demand millions under questionable contract options. Please, for the good of our lovely Zimbabwe, let us always re-consider where we stand and how others feel.
