Zim Asset tool for economic growth
24 Jul 2014 at 09:33hrs | Views
The Zimbabwe Government formulated the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim Asset) as a new trajectory for economic growth and wealth creation. The results based agenda is built around four strategic clusters that seek to enable Zimbabwe to achieve economic growth and reposition the country as one of the strongest economies in the region.
The four strategic clusters are: Food and Nutrition; Social Services and Poverty Eradication; Infrastructure and Utilities; and Value Addition and Beneficiation. We are the most literate nation in Africa. It's a fact like it or hate it. It's time to revise what the government proposes for us and make informed contributions towards rebuilding of our nation
Written documents are evidence as they empower us with knowledge, and they enable us to ask sound questions and give good questions. Lets learn to read these things lest we will be given junk advice branded in a good name with preachers dressed in suits and flashy cars going nowhere, but round in circles .We are the people who will make Zimbabwe a better place first for ourselves, and the generations to come and many more will admire our legacy.
We should work tirelessly to improve our agrarian reform and this should come through addressing the huge fertilizer deficit in this country. Manufacturing fertilizer uses electrolysis which uses too much electricity that we do not have. So if the government is serious in this regard we should see it signing on a new player foreign or local to make use of a process called steam reforming that uses natural gas which has large deposits in Lupane, and that plant should speed up to meet our target entry point.
The truth of the matter is that a well thought out and managed agrarian strategy will move us from a net importer of everything to a net exporter. What that does is it lowers the cost of food in Zimbabwe and when that happens it lowers unemployment. If the government policies are implemented by competent, efficient and effective officials Zim Asset will be a success.
