Not all learned people are wise

Dr Simba Makoni is a man treading on very brittle ground and if he continues on this tangent and at such a phenomenal speed in making monumental blunders that are, quite honestly, apparent to any pedestrian strategist, people will begin to question the authenticity of his PhD.
Since the import of this article is not to disparage his person, but rather to deal with the petty issues that he chose to major in when he briefed a couple of hangers-on recently about Dr Grace Mugabe's "meet the people tour" and how this had paralysed government, I will give him the benefit of doubt his scholarly exploits: at least for now.
Makoni has been to town about the First Lady making negative assessments about the competencies of some cabinet Ministers. Unfortunately, the man has spent the better part of what might have been a productive life and service to the country in political wilderness. As such, it might have escaped his intellect that the conspiracy of silence is as much to blame for some of the country' woes as the illegal economic sanctions!
For so long, some of these public officials have gotten away with incompetence, behaving as if the nation owes them a service as opposed to them serving the country. The rot goes even further to quasi government institutions that have gobbled up massive amounts of tax payers' money, as well as the private sector, with nothing to show. Now, when Dr Mugabe echoes the sentiments of the people that enough is enough, Dr Makoni springs to the defence of those dragging the nation down. Understandably, it is quite cold down there in the political dungeon and Makoni is welcome to take with him as many incompetent, corrupt and worthless cabinet Ministers that his waning energies can drag.
People open up on their grievance to individuals they can trust and the First Lady should not be maligned for being trusted by people to address their concerns. Rather, egocentric patriarchs like Dr Makoni should come to terms with the reality that trust and respect are earned and people will ignore you if they want to. Unfortunately the good doctor of the Nyati totem has been standing on tall toes for so long pining for, and demanding recognition god-knows-for-what so much that he cannot countenance the colossal shadow of Dr Grace.
Needless to point out that the man shares the Nyati totem with Morrison whose notoriety, indelibly etched in blood during the liberation history of this country, I need not elucidate lest I be deemed vindictive to an otherwise astute clan, save for a few bad apples.
That foreign ambassadors, who used to religiously cling to his every word like sophomores do to a don, were conspicuously absent speaks volumes about how irreverent they hold him now!
The same irreverence with which they hold Tsvangirai and his senseless polygamous side kick aka Wiwa. Now, gentlemen and ladies, what might have started off as an attention-grabbing stunt by Dr Makoni might as well end up being the final nail in the inglorious political coffin of a once promising career of a son of the soil that flattered only to deceive by choosing a sorry solitary path when multitudes beckoned.
