It's surprising anyone is surprised fissures tearing Zanu PF, security sectors too!

The worsening Zanu PF dog-eat-dog fighting is spilling over into the security sector.
"Factionalism has existed in the security sector for a long time but it seems to be getting stronger in response to the battle between (Emmerson) Mnangagwa and Mai (Joice) Mujuru. You can easily notice the tension that is growing among us," a middle ranking source in the security sector to the Zimbabwean.
"This is worrying because what is currently a party issue can easily become a national crisis. Those that belong to the Mujuru camp feel they are being treated unfairly by the Mnangagwa camp. What makes the matter worse is that our bosses all belong to one faction or the other and their subordinates have grouped themselves in accordance with the camps."
What is really surprising here is that anyone should be surprised at all that the fissures that have split the civilian segment of Zanu PF are also splitting the security sector which, after all just another segment of the party. When security service top brass all queued to pledge their allegiance to Mugabe before the 2008 national elections, for example, they were really saying the security sector belong to Zanu PF and not the nation.
Zimbabwe's Police, Army, CIO and all the other security sector institution have all been politicised and have all talk on a none-partisan Police has always been just that - talk.
The close-knit relationship between the Zanu PF politicians and these in the security sector was more than just the later turning a blind eye to the former's corruption, vote rigging and even murderous lawlessness with a nod and a wink. Those in the security service have had their share of the looted wealth and political power. Many servicing security staff and the proud owners of the choice seized former white owned farms and the party has gone on to appoint some ex – CIO staff, like Deputy Minister Mutsvangwa other lucrative jobs when they left their security job.
Mai Mujuru has been accused of "illicit dealing in diamonds"; it is certain she would have had one or two partners from the security services in this. So if she is corrupt and then so are her partners! If she is in trouble – she is in serious trouble, there is no question there – and then so will her partners!
Mai Mujuru has already said she is suing The Sunday Mail to challenge the corruption allegations, amongst other issues. Everyone knows corruption is rampant in Zimbabwe and she is daring her accusers to prove it is a court of law not so much because she is innocent but that her accusers and a lot more others will themselves be fingered in the corruption. She is daring the regime to open the Pandora's box!
The regime will just squash the court case and not open the box. However as for her being president that Mugabe had no choice but to deal with it even at the risk on the dog-eat-dog fight that has ensued; there could only be one top dog!
All those in the security service who had worked closely with the Mujuru faction will find themselves being pushed off the top table; if not worse, have their share of the loot taken away. There is a price to be paid for backing the wrong horse!
Many people have called for the de-politicisation of the security sectors and no one in the sector paid any attention.
Well now someone is listen and paying attention – sadly it is too late now to do anything, at least until there is regime change!
