The President's dismissal of VP Mujuru is a welcome development

The Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim-Asset)'s successful implementation hinges on the overall commitment of government ministers who should be prepared to make sure that the country is corrupt free. The issue of corruption and abuse of office by top government officials could dampen the spirits of foreign investors who might want to partner the country in the implementation of Zim-Asset.
People should understand and appreciate that a country cannot get foreign direct investment (FDI) if the top leadership of the country has perfected well the art of graft, abuse of their offices as well as undermining the authority of the Head of State and Government. Investors want a country which is free from corruption and where the rule of law is observed. The political situation in the country has to be calm but if you get a Head of State and Government being under a threat of assassination from his VP and associates, the foreign investment environment can evaporate leaving the country in a messy.
As such, the dismissal of Dr Joyce Mujuru and her cabal of ministers who were linked to the coup plot have come at a better time as the country is cleansed of those who were not pulling in the same direction with the President. It was counterproductive to have the VP of a country working against what the Head of State and Government wanted to be adhered to. Dr Mujuru's failure to realize that she was planning for her political downfall by plotting to illegally remove the President from power makes people applaud her dismissal.
In actual fact President Mugabe should get thumps up for having patience for Dr Mujuru and her cabal as he kept them in government since 2008 after this group campaigned for 'Bhora Musango' in the 2008 harmonised elections. The 'Bhora Musango' campaign strategy, which was initiated by this group of coup plotters, saw President Mugabe losing elections to Morgan Tsvangirai for the first time before the same was trounced in the presidential run-off by President Mugabe. However, the 2008 elections were widely condemned by some elements causing ZANU PF to form a government of national unity with MDC-T as well as MDC in 2009.
President Mugabe is a leader par excellence as he let bygones be bygones and sought to make the party and government work harmoniously without problems. However, VP Mujuru and her cabal manipulated President Mugabe's patience by plotting against him. The coup plotters, who were then enjoying their time in the inclusive government, felt that the arrangement of the GNU has to remain in place although the President, who is a true revolutionary, remained resolute in that the GNU had to go.
With his incomparable patience and generosity, President Mugabe kept those initiators of the 'Bhora Musango' campaign in government hoping that they would repent and become true revolutionaries. Although President Mugabe had all the information that his deputy was working against him, he did not try to expose her believing that she would reform. The former VP thought that President Mugabe's silence against the Bhora Musango plotters was water under the bridge. As such the former VP and her backers manipulated the President's silence and then plotted to remove him violently from office.
So the President's move of dismissing the VP and her cabal from government was overdue as these people were only concerned with personal aggrandizements instead of coming up with plans meant to make sure that money is sourced for the successful implementation of the Zim-Asset. The fact that the former VP and her cabal of ministers failed to embrace the successful implementation of Zim-Asset but chose plans to overthrow the government of President Mugabe is enough reason to commend their dismissal in government as something which was overdue.
While the country was reeling under the western-countries-imposed sanctions, the Bhora Musango plotters were busy plotting to destroy ZANU PF from within. Their campaign to make sure that elections were not held in the country, despite the President calling for the elections, showed that these people were only bent on betraying revolutionary ideologies in favour of western ideologies.
It is surprising that the former VP and her cabal were naïve to think that when they manage to remove President Mugabe from power the west would pour a lot of money into the Zimbabwean government. The former VP failed to realize that when the MDC was not in government they used to boost that they have keys to the donor community but when they were co-opted into the GNU, the same donor community snubbed this western and labour backed party. So it is surprising why the former VP would think that the removal of President Mugabe from office would still bring foreign aid into the country.
The failure by Dr Mujuru and her cabal to learn from history on the chicanery of the western countries when it comes to foreign aid made this group to become foolish. In actual fact history has taught us that the western countries' aid to developing countries does not come cheaply. It is a fact and known that any aid, poured in the third world countries, come with strings attached, hence, Dr Mujuru's lack of grasp of this basic fact boggles the mind.
So, her dismissal from government by President Mugabe was welcome as her ascendency into the highest office on land could have made this country submit itself to western ideologies thereby abandoning the revolutionary ideologies which brought independence to this beloved Southern African country.
