06:16, 19 Jan - ‪+263 7* *** ****‬: Gweru  city council should not be heartless...Concerned citizen.

I would urge all local authorities to consider the plight of rate payers . lndustries  which employed bulk of the people in virtually all towns are either closed or operating at their lowest levels. Faced with this scenario people are, and have been out of employment. The major employer is now the informal sector were its a struggle to make a decent profit.

It boggles one's mind when MDC run councils like Gweru ,which purpote to have the struggling people at heart, resorts to seek the legal route on defaulting ratepayers. Its not by choice that people are struggling to even put decent meals on their tables. Why not a holistic approach ? The legal route is a poor option, rather its better to come with ways which ensure a flow in of revenue even if its in small amounts.

After the government removed outstanding bills in 2013 the situation was bound to come back because industries remained closed or were shutting down. I would urge Gweru city authorities not to be insensitive like the party they are trying to remove from power. Our country is now hell on earth brought by people who are obsessed with power.

Some authorities are giving residents discounts of which l urge the Mayor of Gweru to follow suit.
