MDC-T discriminates even the dead Matebeles

20 Jan 2015 at 20:00hrs | Views
Matabeleland Liberation Organisation (MLO) was shocked yesterday when MDC-T released a discriminatory condolence statement. The statement mentioned only 24 people who died in a bus accident in Mashonaland on Sunday but it was dead silent on 11 Matabeles who also died in a bus accident in Botswana in the first week of January. We observed with great shock that a party which boasts of being the party of excellence, and a beacon of democracy, discriminates even the dead along  tribal lines.

Orbet Gutu MDC T spokesman wrote,  "The MDC T would like to express its deepest and heartfelt condolences to the families of 24 passengers who perished in the fatal bus accident that took place Sunday morning along Harare Nyamapanda high-way."

What about the families who lost their loved ones in a fatal bus accident in Botswana, are they not human enough to be comforted because they are from Tsholotsho, Matabeleland? Are the lives of Shonas who died in a bus accident in Mashonaland more valuable than those of Matebeles who died in a bus accident in Botswana? Unfortunately that's what MDC T statement is telling us.

This clearly shows that MDC T so called big tent cannot stretch further than the boundaries of Mashonaland. MDC T policies are a hard copy of zanupf segregative laws that hold the people of Mashonaland as first class and those from Matabeleland as second class citizens.

MDC T's narrow regime change program will not benefit Matabeleland. It will not free Matabeles from oppression, poverty, discrimination and abuse.

The government of Zimbabwe led by Zanu-PF, well known architects of the evil Grand Plan which seeks to annihilate Matebeles, has rushed to declare the Mashonaland accident as a national disaster. This means all funeral costs will be covered by the state. The accident that happened in Botswana on 12 January was ignored by the government of Zimbabwe they did not even bother to talk about it because the lives of the Ndeeres (derogatory name for Matebeles) are regarded as cheap. Once again the people of Matebeleland are left on their own to struggle to pay for the repatriation of their loved ones from Botswana thanks to Zanu-PF's policies of exclusion.

Zanu-PF and MDC T are two different sides of the same coin. The last 35 years have been a nightmare for Matabeles under Zimbabwe's tribal government. The future does not look good under the same government run by Zanu-PF or MDC T because they all worship in the same alter of oppression.

The people of matabeleland should know that where there is oppression revolution becomes the only viable option.
